Bravo Dancers!

Remembering Elaine Torre     Remembering Rosa Lorenzo

Dance For The Cure is the charity work of the students, staff and families of Moves & Motions Dance.  One hundred percent of the proceeds raised are donated to charity.

Elaine Torre was one of the driving forces behind the dance teams and staff of Moves & Motions.  She will always be remembered as a strong and courageous woman who was filled with love and friendship.

After the untimely passing of two dear friends Elaine Torre & Rosa Lorenzo, mothers of two dancers and teachers from Moves & Motions, the dancers, staff and their families were left devastated.  It was through this devastation that we as a team decided to make a difference.

"Dance for the Cure, The Elaine Torre Memorial came to fruition through the efforts of the very dedicated dance team & families of Moves & Motions. I am so proud of everyone for their hard work perseverance & resourceful thinking.  I truly know that Elaine & Rosa would be so overwhelmed by the outpour of love & friendship that has inspired everyone to create this foundation.

Cancer is the general name for over 100 medical conditions involving uncontrolled & dangerous cell growth.  Curing cancer has been a major goal of medical researchers for decades.  Already there are many forms of cancer which are no longer considered untreatable.  Development of new treatments takes time and money.

We truly hope that you will support our efforts.  If you would like to make a donation, please e mail us at  MovesMotions1@aol.com

Thank you,

Jodi Fera, Director Moves & Motions Dance

I am proud to say this was our second successful year.

A Word From Monica Lorenzo..............................

I would like to thank Jodi and the Moves and Motions family for making this even a reality. However, I wish that we never had to organize such an event, because that would mean diseases such as Cancer, Leukemia, and AIDS would not exist in our world and many of our loved ones would be here with us today.  Sadly this is not true, but it can be someday in our close future.

My mother, Rosa Lorenzo, was a beautiful woman who gave me the world.  She was the most incredible mother, wife, and sister who instilled the best values in each of us.  She was a strong woman who had the gentlest touch.  She has left such an imprint on so many people's lives that I will forever be honored to have her as my mother.  It is so unfortunate that we lost her this summer to the terrible disease of Lung Cancer, but it only proves that the need for a cure is so great, and we all have the power to help bring us a step closer to that cure.  I know she is smiling down on us today and so proud that all of you have come together on hopes of whipping out this disease.  A disease that finds two out of five women who don't even smoke.

Just by sitting in this audience today shows how devoted you are to helping our human race.  Moves and Motions will continue this event annually, donating our funds to different causes in memory of those who have touched our lives.  We hope that we will make the difference in someone's life by giving them the chance to survive.

A Word From Lisa Torre............................................

I would like to thank everyone for being here and for the effort that was put into making this benefit a success. Moves and Motions is my second family and I greatly appreciate everything they do for me. I would especially like to thank Jodi for creating the Elaine Torre memorial.

One of the reasons why we chose to have this benefit in November is because November is Lung cancer Awareness month. We are here to raise awareness about lung cancer, the number one cancer killer of both women and men. Lung cancer causes more deaths in the United States than any other cancer. It has been called the "invisible disease," both because of the difficulty in achieving early diagnosis and because patients and survivors have remained quiet. The lung cancer advocacy color is clear because lung cancer and its patients are often not seen or considered. It's time to change that!

My mom would be so honored at all we have done to keep her spirit alive and that we are here celebrating her life through dance. My mom was never one who like to be fussed over, but in this case, she would be flattered to know that we are not just taking this lying down. If you leave here thinking about this disease, if we can save one life, then we’ve accomplished our goal.

I can’t say enough about what an amazing person my mom was. She was my best friend and the best friend a person could have. I miss her every second of every day. But I know she must be with my dad, in a better place. They made me the person I am today and I am privileged to say that I am their daughter.

 Thank you.
