Our Philosophy......While
our team is competitive, our main goal is for all of
our students to participate in an environment that will build their
confidence, self esteem and technique. We work together as a
team, parent, staff and student, to train hard working,
honest, well rounded performers, with an appreciation for the work
of others. We work together to respect fellow team members as
well as other performers and choreographers we are so privileged to
meet. We are not a team built on the winnings of medals
but rather the road that is traveled to get there. We measure
our success not by the medals we achieve but rather the character
that is developed within our students.
Requirements....Students who have
appropriate previous training are welcome to call for an evaluation. After the evaluation
the student will be placed, with our Director's approval, in a class with other
students who have achieved the same level of technique execution and performance ability.
Dancers are not placed by the number of years he or she has trained, but
rather by what he or she has accomplished in that period of time.
Students are required
to take multiple classes each week with a strong focus on ballet. Commitment,
attendance, readiness and hard work are all a part of a dancer's
responsibility.
Dance conventions,
Master Classes and workshops both in dance and theater are part of the company
experience! Many of these classes are held at the studio while others are
at an outside facility.
Our Students....Moves & Motions Dancers
have gone on to Performing Arts High Schools such as; The Frank Sinatra School
of Performing Arts, Professional Performing Arts (aka Alvin Ailey), Nassau Boces
Dance Programs and LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts (aka The Fame
School). Moves & Motions Alumni are presently dancing in Professional
Dance Companies, Off Broadway Performances and Touring Companies. Our Alumni
have professional dance companies of their own, work in television and radio, work as Dance Adjudicators and professional Dance Educators.
Our Company students
have performed in Theme Parks and Cultural Arts Festivals. Through dance
many of our students have raised money for the Ronald McDonald House and The
Make A Wish Foundation. Our dancers have brought such joy to senior
citizen centers and children's hospitals all over New York. Company
dancers get to perform at various events throughout the year, from local
street fairs to large corporate events.

Moves and Motions
continues to support our local charities. Our students and staff are
always striving to reach higher goals. It is important that while offering
our dancers an excellent dance education we take the responsible approach to
instill positive values while doing so. We share our love of dance, our
love of people, our compassion for others and through the art and power of
dance, let them know we can always give back to the world
